Emily Coutts is an award-winning queer actor, producer and director from Toronto, based in Los Angeles. Emily was one of 8 women selected for the 2024 Women In The Director's Chair Career Advancement Program. She graduated from the prestigious Canadian Film Center's Acting Conservatory in 2016, and is best known for playing Lt. Keyla Detmer for five seasons on Paramount Plus' Star Trek: Discovery. She wrote, produced and acted in the short film Dear Jesus (Portland Film Festival, Toronto Shorts International Festival & Dances With Films), co-wrote and directed the short film, They Choose You (Hollyshorts), and wrote and directed her last short film Rosebud. Other film and television credits as an actor include Clarice (CBS), The Girlfriend Experiences (Starz) and Guerillmo Del Toro's Crimson Peak. She is currently developing her first feature film.
