Emerson Tenney is a rising screenwriter and filmmaker known for her bold, genre-blending storytelling and emotionally resonant narratives. A queer filmmaker, Emerson is passionate about exploring narratives of underrepresented voices and the complexity and joy of queer experience.
Emerson has developed projects with TOEI ANIMATION (One Piece), LION FORGE (Hair Love), and NTERTAIN STUDIOS (Los Montaners). She is currently developing an original animated musical series starring Evaluna Montaner.
Her directorial debut, Vibrantea, won Best Animated Short Film at the 2025 Manchester International Film Festival, marking her arrival as a fresh voice in animation.
A graduate of Brown University with a B.A. in Literary Arts, Emerson brings a strong narrative voice to both animated and live-action projects. She is based in Los Angeles, California.
She holds fast to the belief that film’s ability to make life’s hardest questions universally accessible might just be what saves the world.
