Emerson Tenney is a filmmaker dedicated to telling the stories of protagonists who not only believe in their dreams, but who have the courage to step up and make those dreams come true. Emerson received her B.A. in Literary Arts from Brown University where she learned how to take risks that put creativity first. Emerson stands confident in her identity as a lesbian, but that’s where any categorization stops. She writes across genre: Animation, horror, big gay rom-coms, explosion-heavy action movies, broad comedies… When Emerson glimpses a character, she finds the medium that is going to best give them the voice to be whoever they are. Emerson is based in Los Angeles, California where she is currently completing an upcoming animated feature for TOEI ANIMATION, pitching her Kids & Family Animated TV series in partnership with Latin American production company NTERTAIN, and cooking up a few more surprises. Emerson holds fast to her belief that film’s ability to make life’s most difficult questions universally accessible will be what saves the world.
