Egregious Girlhood is a celebration of the film fatale, the monstrous mother, the girlish gore. Egregious Girlhood seeks submissions of the femme grotesque from woman-aligned directors. We seek stories written, directed, or produced by women which center women’s stories in horror, fantasy, thriller, and sci-fi genres. The festival will take place over two days in Spokane, Washington, with film panels featuring scholarly, academic, and craft-based storytellers. We encourage submissions from bold, aesthetic, genre-driven creators.

We are excited to showcase narrative-driven short films and features from femme individuals at all levels of their filmmaking practice, from students, to industry professionals. The festival seeks to uplift, elevate, teach, and learn. Festival programmers are paid a stipend for their time reviewing films from festival submission fees. At this time, there is no honorarium available to screen selected films, however, all films will be considered in awards categories.
