“E io ci sto – Il cinema sotto le stelle” is a festival dedicated to documentary cinema, non-fiction storytelling and contemporary narrative forms. The 7th edition, taking place in Crotone from August 22 to 28, 2026, revolves around the theme “TRUE? – fear, information and climate”, exploring the boundary between reality and perception, storytelling and virality, information and media spectacle.

The festival combines film screenings, talks with filmmakers and authors, live podcasts, public discussions, environmental activities and contests focused on non-fiction writing and storytelling. Special attention is given to sustainability, local identity and the relationship between culture, environment and community.

Alongside the official program, the festival hosts the “Premio Radici – Calabria Section”, a competitive section dedicated to documentaries connected to Calabria, together with a wide range of parallel activities involving associations, researchers, artists and cultural organizations.

“E io ci sto – Il cinema sotto le stelle” è un festival dedicato al cinema documentario, ai linguaggi del reale e alle nuove forme di narrazione contemporanea. La VII edizione, in programma a Crotone dal 22 al 28 agosto 2026, si sviluppa attorno al tema “VERO? – paura, informazione e clima”, attraversando il confine tra realtà e percezione, tra racconto e viralità, tra informazione e spettacolarizzazione.
Il festival unisce proiezioni cinematografiche, incontri con autori e registi, podcast live, panel divulgativi, attività ambientali e contest dedicati alla scrittura e al racconto del reale. Particolare attenzione è dedicata alla valorizzazione del territorio, alla sostenibilità e alla costruzione di un dialogo tra cultura, ambiente e comunità.
Accanto al programma ufficiale, il festival ospita il “Premio Radici – Sezione Calabria”, concorso dedicato ai documentari legati alla Calabria, e una serie di attività parallele che coinvolgono associazioni, divulgatori, artisti e realtà culturali nazionali.

Rules & Terms

The competition is open to documentary films, docufilms, hybrid non-fiction works and independent productions completed after January 1st, 2023, and connected to Calabria through their production background, artistic development or territorial subject matter.

Works of any duration are accepted and must be submitted either in Italian or with Italian subtitles. Films previously selected in past editions of the festival or containing unauthorized copyrighted material will not be admitted.

The submission fee is €20.00 as a contribution toward administrative expenses. For the pre-selection process, participants must provide:

screening link of the film;
password (if required);
technical information sheet;
synopsis;
director’s biography and filmography;
2 stills from the film;
2 photographs of the director;
trailer (if available);
proof of payment.

Selected works must be delivered in the screening format requested by the festival technical department, preferably as high-resolution H.264 files.

Submitting a work implies full acceptance of the official festival regulations and authorizes the festival to use images, trailers and excerpts of the selected works for promotional and cultural purposes.

Regole e termini di partecipazione

Sono ammessi alla selezione documentari, docufilm, opere ibride di non-fiction e produzioni indipendenti completate dopo il 1° gennaio 2023 e legate alla Calabria sotto il profilo produttivo, artistico o territoriale.

Le opere possono essere di qualsiasi durata e devono essere presentate in lingua italiana oppure sottotitolate in italiano. Non saranno ammesse opere già selezionate nelle precedenti edizioni del festival o contenenti materiale privo delle necessarie autorizzazioni.

L’iscrizione al concorso comporta il pagamento di una quota di partecipazione pari a €20,00 a titolo di rimborso spese di segreteria. Per la pre-selezione dovranno essere inviati:

link visionabile dell’opera;
eventuale password di accesso;
scheda tecnica;
sinossi;
biofilmografia del/della regista;
2 fotografie del film;
2 fotografie del/della regista;
eventuale trailer;
ricevuta di pagamento.

Le opere selezionate dovranno essere inviate nel formato richiesto dalla direzione tecnica del festival, preferibilmente file H.264 ad alta risoluzione.

L’iscrizione implica l’accettazione integrale del regolamento ufficiale del festival e autorizza l’organizzazione all’utilizzo di immagini, trailer ed estratti dell’opera per finalità promozionali e culturali.
