The Dublin Smartphone Film Festival

The Dublin Smartphone Film Festival (DUBSMARTFF) is an international festival dedicated to celebrating work shot on Smartphones.

No longer is expensive technology a barrier to creativity. The mobile phone has expanded the scope and freedom for filmmakers. Now aspiring artists have the ability to write, shoot and edit, their films at the touch of a button. Smartphones are reshaping the way we approach filmmaking creating limitless possibilities in the palm of your hand.

The festival was created with the goal of encouraging these filmmakers to share the stories they have captured on mobile devices. We also aim to provide a platform to exhibit these stories to a wider audience. It is also a chance to reward storytellers, who are using these devices to push the boundaries of narrative and style.

The festival takes place in the month of January and submissions are open to anyone with a Smartphone a compelling story to tell. Throughout the year there will be events designed to challenge filmmakers and revolutionize the way we approach filmmaking.

Why Us
We are a Festival created and run by Smartphone filmmakers.

    Response from festival:

Great, thank you so much, it was a pleasure having you involved and we appreciate the feedback, it will help us to get bigger and better for next year.... Amazing stuff, we are so thankful

  • Even though I didn't make the festival, it looked to be an amazingly fun time. What I value about the organizers is their full support of the filmmakers, even beyond their festival. I'm so appreciative of this as it would be easy to forget about the entrants and move on to the next year. Thanks for hanging in there with me and for being a great, positive first experience in the film festival world!!

Alexandra, thank you so much for the review, we really appreciate your feedback so much. As filmmakers ourselves we understand how important it is to get support wherever we can. We wanted to build the type of event we ourselves would love to enter and based on your feedback we are doing something right. Best of luck with the deepest cut. I see you have gotten into a few events now which is well deserved. Keep us posted, it's a truly excellent film that deserves to be seen by everyone. Thank you again

A festival that punches well above it's weight! Rarely (as a filmmaker) do you encounter a festival that engages with both it's entrants and audience as much as these guys do. Even though I was participating from the other side of the globe, I still felt every part included and valued. Great sponsors, valuable prizes and flawless communication and social engagement - 5 stars all round from me.
