Duarte Gandum (b. 1998) is a young filmmaker from Portugal, who has been working in visual effects for advertising, cinema and TV shows since 2016.
Winner of "Science Fiction Revelation" at Future World Film Festival 2025 for epic post-apocalyptic short film "After Time".
Winner of "Best VFX in a Short Film" at Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology and "Best Post Production" at Lift-Off Film Festival, Toronto for Soulmate (2023).
Credits for film and TV include the Sophia Awards nominee Bem Bom (2021, nominated for Best VFX), Correr o Fado (2025), Abandonados (2023), Soulmate (2023), Labirinto da Saudade (2018) and many others.
Has worked with award-winning director Rich Lee on an advertisement film for Kraken Rum, and a Samsung Galaxy spot featuring Emma Myers, as the lead VFX compositor at PushVFX.
Writer and co-author of award-winning alternate history, action/adventure epic "CONGO" series of comic books.
Winner of two awards, "Best Music Video" and "Best Director in a Music Video", for "Wirehead" by the band Monkey Flag at Figueira Film Art in 2019.
Two-time participant in Fantasporto Film Festival before the age of 18, with short films produced as a student at EPI - Escola Profissional de Imagem in Lisbon.
