Draper is a senior at the University of Southern California, majoring in Film & TV Production with a focus on directing, writing, and producing. Having roots in Memphis, TN, but born and raised in Houston, TX, Draper is as southern as they come—respectable and welcoming. He is the oldest of seven and is a first-generation high school graduate and college graduate-to-be. Heavily inspired by the storytelling of Memphis Soul musicians like Isaac Hayes and Al Green, as well as newly emerging Hip-Hop in the 90s like Ice Cube, Scarface, and Tupac, Draper began to produce images in his head, birthing the director’s vision. Some of his favorite films and tv include "Snowfall," "Power," "They Cloned Tyron," "Killer of the Flower Moon," and others. The type of stories Draper is interested in creating are films that highlight people of color overcoming adversity and stories that carry truth and substance.
In recent news, Draper has been on a festival run for his short film 'Hell of a Child,' which he wrote and directed. The film is based on the life of Robert “Yummy” Sandifer, an 11-year-old kid who faced inevitable defeat on the southside of Chicago in 1994. The film has won a Programmer’s Award at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival. He has two more semesters before he graduates from USC and is currently working on his thesis film, which he plans to use as a proof of concept for his feature film.
