Art. 1 - The competition is open to all Italian and international producers (companies, associations, and private individuals).
Art. 2 - Eligible Works
The Festival accepts:
Documentary films of any nationality
Approximate maximum running time of 30 minutes
Completed after January 1, 2025
The Artistic Direction reserves the right to accept slightly longer works if considered consistent with the Festival’s editorial line.
Art. 3 - Sections
The competition includes the following thematic sections:
Mountain Culture & Environment
Sports Documentaries
The Artistic Direction reserves the right to assign each selected film to the most appropriate section.
Article 4 – Awards
An official Jury will grant the following awards:
Best Mountain Environment Documentary
Best Sports Documentary
Mountain Inclusion Award
(for works promoting inclusion, accessibility, equal opportunities, and the overcoming of physical, cultural, or social barriers in mountain contexts)
Special Jury Award
The Jury’s decisions are final.
Article 5 – Submission
Films must be submitted by May 31, 2026, following the procedures indicated on the official Festival website.
Selected films will be notified by June 30, 2026.
Submission implies full acceptance of these regulations.
Article 6 – Technical Requirements and Delivery Materials
Selected films must be delivered in digital format with the following technical specifications for screening:
Full HD 1920x1080
ProRes 422 HQ codec or equivalent high-quality format
Original frame rate
Minimum stereo 2.0 audio
English subtitles are mandatory.
For films not in Italian, Italian subtitles are welcome if available.
In addition to the screening file, selected films must provide the following promotional materials:
- One official trailer, teaser, or excerpt (maximum duration: 120 seconds)
- At least 5 high-resolution still images from the film (suitable for press and print use)
- A short synopsis (maximum 500 words)
- A short director’s biography (maximum 150 words)
- Press kit, if available
These materials may be used for Festival communication, press, promotional purposes, and archival documentation.
The Festival does not guarantee the screening of files that do not meet the specified technical requirements.
Article 7 – Screenings and Scheduling
Selected films will be screened as part of the official program in Cortina d’Ampezzo and San Vito di Cadore.
The Artistic Direction determines the screening schedule, dates, and screening conditions.
Article 8 – Possible Online Streaming
The Festival reserves the right to make selected films available on the official Festival streaming platform, geo-blocked within Italy and limited to the Festival dates (July 30 – August 2, 2026), subject to prior agreement with rights holders.
Article 9 – Promotional Use
By submitting a film, rights holders authorize the Festival to use free of charge:
Excerpts of the film up to a total maximum of 30 seconds
Trailers
Photographs and press materials
For promotional purposes, online and offline communication, press activities, archive use, and promotion of future Festival editions, without territorial or time limitations.
Article 10 – Recording of Festival Events
The Festival reserves the right to photograph and record public events, presentations, Q&A sessions, and other moments of the official program for documentation and promotional purposes.
Article 11 – Responsibility
Participants declare that they hold all necessary rights to submit the work and that all copyright, music rights, image rights, and necessary releases have been properly cleared.
The Festival shall not be held responsible for any disputes regarding rights ownership of submitted works.
Article 12 – Acceptance
Participation in the Dolomiti Film Festival 2026 implies full acceptance of these regulations.
For any matter not covered herein, the Festival Direction reserves the right to make the final decision
