All films must be the original work of the person submitting it, and all crew and cast must be fully credited in the film credits as well as in the project details on FilmFreeway.

DOCUMENTARY SPRINT:
Official Rules
1. This Film Sprint will start at the conclusion of the Kickoff Meeting and end at the time given during the Kickoff Meeting. This is the Official Competition Window.
a. The film must be completed and uploaded to FilmFreeway by the end of the Competition Window.
b. Only works that arrive before the deadline will be considered official entries. All works received will be screened at the official Screening.

2. All creative work must take place during the Competition Window.
a. Creative work includes, but is not limited to:
• Scriptwriting
• Storyboarding
• Composing a Shot List
• Rehearsing
• Costume Design
• Set Design
• Shooting
• Editing
• Sound Design
• Rendering
• Exporting
b. The only work allowed before the Competition Window:
• Communication between the cast and crew for organizing
• Securing equipment
• Scouting and securing locations
• Creating a “Production Logo”

3. A team must incorporate ALL the Required Elements to qualify:
• Required Elements can be found in the attached Producer’s Packet

4. ALL FILMS MUST MEET ALL TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AS SPECIFIED IN THE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT GUIDELINES.

5. Each team must have AT LEAST one representative at the kickoff meeting.
a. Genres will be drawn at random at the kickoff meeting.
b. The Required Elements will be revealed to the teams at the kickoff meeting.
c. No submissions will be accepted that do not have a complete Cast and Crew list and
Signed Releases from all team members by the end of the Competition Window.

6. STOCK FOOTAGE AND AUDIO
a. All footage must be shot during the Competition Window.
b. Animation and special effects are allowed but all work on them must be completed
entirely within the Competition Window.
c. All stock footage MUST be properly attributed during the credits.
d. Although teams are encouraged to work with musicians and composers, other music
may also be used as long as you have the rights to use it. A list of royalty-free music
libraries has been provided to you.

7. All production team members must be volunteers. It is against the rules to pay any entity for their services to your team. Teams may pay to rent filmmaking equipment, but may not pay anyone to operate any equipment, perform, write, edit, or otherwise work on the film.

8. All Filmmakers must abide by the Code of Ethics and Creative Conduct at all times.

9. Any type of video or film camera is permitted. There are no limits to the amount of equipment used in the Film Sprint.

10. All team members MUST register as individuals at www.filmsprint.com/signup. No
exceptions!

11. ALL TEAM MEMBERS MUST OBEY LOCAL AND STATE HEALTH GUIDELINES AT ALL TIMES.

12. No distributing your film before the screening. Entrants should not distribute their film in anyway, including online, before the Official Screening. Teams are encouraged to create trailers for their short film before the screening and release them.

13. To be eligible for the competition, films must be entirely original, must not infringe on any third-party’s rights, including copyright, must not contain any defamatory statements about any real person or entity, must not contain obscene or pornographic material, must not violate the privacy of any person or entity, and may not violate any federal or state law or copyright (excluding the mutual copyright to the film shared non-exclusively between the Film Sprint and the teams).

14. No animals may be harmed in the production of any Film Sprint project.

15. The Film Sprint may disqualify any film deemed to be inappropriate or to have not complied with the rules, at their discretion. Honorees, including Best Film, will be awarded by the discretion of Film Sprint officials. Prizes will be awarded to the named Team Contact (or a designated surrogate) at or after the conclusion of the Official Screening.
16. Awards are granted at Film Sprint’s discretion. Filmmakers, teams, and/or submissions may be disqualified in accordance with the above.

CODE OF ETHICS AND CREATIVE CONDUCT
• Be inclusive.
• Be considerate.
• Treat each other with respect at all times.
• Turn differences into strengths.
• If someone asks you to stop, stop.
• ZERO TOLERANCE for harassment, sexist/racist/derogatory conduct, abusive language.

Violations of this code may result in ejection/disqualification.
