In 2007 Dmitry Vasyukov conceived four-part TV documentary “Happy People” describing the year cycle in Bakhta village located in taiga on the Siberian river Yenissei.
In 2010 the renowned German producer and director Werner Herzog got involved in this project to release a 90-minute international version of the series titled “Happy People. A Year in the Taiga”.
This version was nominated at IFF in the USA, Italy, Japan and in other countries. In 2012 the film was released in cinemas across Europe, and in 2013 in the USA. In 2013 Discovery Channel purchased the rights.
In 2013 “Happy People” project continued with a 2-series documentary “Pomory”.
In 2014 Vasiukov used crowdfunding for the third film of the project about Altai, which was first released as a four-episode documentary and later developed into a cinema version titled “Another Life”.
