An Aussie expat living in NYC for the past nine years, she shot "Cloud Gazing" to get her feet wet as a first time filmmaker (on the contrary, she's drenched to the bone and quite philosophical about this). She cooks a mean chicken soup and as a humble gesture wants to make friends who can help her make more films that bring a deeper empathy, compassion and humor to a world that feels heavy (at times) on differences.

1. Auditions were done over FaceTime with the express encouragement to come as you are, breathe as you are, be as you are and just banter with the director. No script. Just improv. Shannon Whalen was having such a great time during the audition that her parting words were "You know what? I don't care if the script turns out to be terrible, I like you so much, I'll do it anyway". She was requested for a callback then and there.
2. Dianne conducted an array of callbacks during her work hours as a host at a co-working space in Union Square (NYC). She weaved in saying her lines to other actresses auditioning for the role of 'Dylan' whilst giving stellar customer service to her members. It was the improv leaping after the read of scripted pages amidst people coming in and out of the building that made the callbacks all the more memorable.
3. Shannon Whalen's callback was conducted during Dianne's lunch break at Phebe's Tavern (East Village) and amidst a fight with Dianne's ex-husband at the time. All of this was done over a salmon burger and wedge fries.
"There are stories to be told that are still untold and characters to be portrayed that haven't been portrayed correctly. So there's work to be done." - Shonda Rhimes
"It's not a level playing field. So get over it. Just believe in yourself and get it done."
- Debra Chase Martin (Producer at 'Women in Focus' Conference)
"There came a point where I just thought, 'My God, life is going by so fast, I have to stand up for what I believe in. I can't be so frightened anymore.' I don't want to be some old lady saying 'I shoulda made that movie.'" - Barbara Streisand
"I am a woman with a raging, vulnerable heart, staring at her calling point-blank in the eye. C'mon, I'm here! Let's do this." - Dianne Diep (Writer & Director)
