Dexter is an independent filmmaker who directed, wrote and edited the seven-episode queer Asian-American web series, “Stay,” which amassed a total of three million views in its first two months of release on YouTube. He also directed and wrote a short film titled “The Reliever” which won Best Drama Film at the Glendale International Film Festival and was an official selection at the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival and the San Diego Filipino Film Festival. He was also a finalist at the 2023 Blackmagic Collective Producers’ Lab which provided him with the opportunity to develop his latest feature film project. He also edited the official trailer of “Asian Persuasion” which featured AAPI actors Dante Basco and Kevin Kreider.
Before migrating to the US, Dexter directed, produced, and wrote an independent feature in the Philippines titled “First Semester,” which garnered major awards globally, including Best Debut Director Feature at the All Lights India International Film Festival, Grand Jury Award at the San Diego International Film Festival, and Audience Choice Award at the Seoul International Film Festival. His film was also screened at the American Film Institute. For nearly a decade, Dexter also served as an episode writer for several top-rated drama series at ABS-CBN, the largest broadcasting network in the Philippines, including the phenomenal “Be Careful With My Heart,” which was a finalist at the 2013 New York International Television and Film Awards.
