Derek Robitaille is a photographer and cinematographer based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, whose work is inspired by a passion for nature, wildlife, and travel. He spent four years working aboard cruise ships and has travelled extensively, visiting all seven continents and experiencing a wide range of landscapes, wildlife, and cultures. These experiences continue to shape his perspective and creative approach today. In Canada, Derek has contributed to documentary and corporate storytelling projects that highlight Indigenous communities and their voices.
His debut short documentary, Penguins of the Point, has received international recognition, screening at film festivals around the world. The film won Best Bird Film and received an Honourable Mention for Best Short Film at the 2025 Wildlife Conservation Film Festival. It has also been featured as part of environmental initiatives, including Ocean Week Canada and World Oceans Day, supporting efforts to raise awareness of ocean conservation, biodiversity, and climate action.
