Derby Film Festival is one of the leading regional film festival in the UK. Bringing together film fans, filmmakers and industry figures, Derby Film Festival is ten days long and will run from 4th - 13th May 2018. The patron of Derby FIlm Festival is actor/director David Morrissey (The Walking Dead).

The opening four days of the festival are turned over to genre weekend PARACINEMA which showcases the best in new genre cinema, classics and rare cinema curiosities.

Screenings, previews and showcase events with major figures from the world of film will be accompanied by panel discussions, workshops and masterclasses.

In 2016, we had Sir Ben Kingsley attend the festival for a talk about his illustrious career in Film. Actor and author Simon Callow attended to discuss his career and his series of books about the life of Orson Welles. Other attendees were actress Julie Peasgood and BBFC film examiner David Hyman.

Previous years we have welcomed Sir John Hurt, Jenny Agutter, Phil Davis and Directors Mark Herman, Jake West, Peter Sasdy, John Hough, Waris Hussein and Michael Armstrong

We are so grateful that our film Leon must die was selected by the Derby Film Festival and we had the opportunity to attend the Festival. Peter was really welcoming and generous to us, we got Festival Passes and could watch lots of movies, which we enjoyed a lot. Also he organized a Q&A and took care of promoting our screenings. He even told a German speaking society in Derby about our film, so they could attend our screening. We're really grateful for those kinds of details. Apart from the great organizing team, we've met many other really cool people, like for example James from bloop magazine and other reviewers and members of the press. In many other Festivals, you meet great people, watch great films but don't really get a lot of promotion for your film out of it. At the Derby Film Festival, there were many people in the audience, who were genuinely interested in our film, tweeted about it and wrote reviews. We are so glad that we attended the Festival and hope to be able to attend next year as well. Wish us luck!
