Like any other woman, I like really big men who own tiny breed dogs, parents who torture their babies by making them eat lemons and finding new and unique ways to eviscerate the characters in my scripts.
Deirdre started writing at the age of fourteen with poems and short stories.
Her love of horror, thrillers, cult classics and dark comedies also started young with watching way too many 1970s cult classics, 1980s slasher and foreign films.
With a background in theater, mostly behind the scenes, Deirdre switched from short stories to writing staged plays. She has completed seven stage plays with topics ranging from a murder mystery set in the 1890s to an S/M themed, disco musical. Three of her plays are in her book, Ladies & Whores: Three Two Act Plays.
In 2005, Deirdre ventured into the world of screenwriting and has penned twelve screenplays including five shorts. She likes to mix the genres she grew up watching and put her unique spin on the horror genre.
She has offered her skills as a professional script reader for the NOLA Horror Film Fest, the Ivoryton Playhouse, The Writers Lab & the Austin Film Festival. She is also a audio describer for the Yale Repertory Theater.
In Deirdre's past life she was a AM radio talk show producer, announcer, voiceover artist and host of her own jazz show.
