We love a good story. Especially a good short one.

The Decatur Short Docs Festival looks for short documentaries that portray southern people and landscapes through a unique lens. Curated by Decatur filmmaker Hal Jacobs (hjacobscreative.com), these nonfiction pieces are chosen especially for a community that values family, education, social justice, arts, environment, humor and soul.

Screenings are held a few times a year -- films are selected by invitation-only.

"Official Selections" will receive laurels on request.

All films must be under 20 minutes in length.

We only accept digital submissions through an online screener via a source such as Vimeo or a file transfer service such as wetransfer.com. We accept no hardcopy submissions.

I wasn't able to attend, but the communication was clear and friendly! A great start for a first-year festival!
