David Ouimet is the author and illustrator of the award-winning Children's book I Go Quiet,
and the follow-up, I Get Loud. An artist and musician, he is a graduate of the
Rhode Island School of Design (Film and Video), and his work has been featured on album covers, books, and magazines, and has been exhibited at the Museum of American Illustration. He has scored music for film, recorded and appeared on numerous records, and performed throughout the world.
He illustrated the Dare to Be Scared series, written by Robert San Souci, and the picture book Daydreams for Night, written by John Southworth.
In September 2019 Ouimet's debut book as an author and illustrator, I Go Quiet, was published in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and India by Canongate Books.
The book was acclaimed by authors such as Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, Matt Haig, David Eggers and Stephen Fry.
In early 2020 the book was published in the U.S. by W.W. Norton, and in a Portuguese edition by Companhia das Letras, A Turkish Edition by Cinar, a German edition by MVG Verlag, an Italian edition by Terre di Mezzo Editore, a Spanish edition by Minotauro, and a Chinese Edition by the CITIC Press Group, among others. His books have been translated in published in 10 languages.
I Get Loud, the follow-up to I Go Quiet was be published in the summer of 2021.
I Go Quiet was the winner of the 2020 East Sussex Children's Book Award, and was shortlisted for the 2021 Kate Greenaway Medal.
In March of 2022 he released his first animated Music Video, Glide, featuring Skye Edwards from the band Morcheeba.
