DAVID & GOLIAS - Audiovisuais e Eventos Culturais, Lda. was established in 1992 by Luís Alvarães and Fernando Vendrell. The company initially produced theatre, fiction for TV and acted as executive producer in international productions, but since 1998 evolved into a film production company. Currently produces feature films, short films, documentaries and TV series guided by values of experimentation, quality and innovation. The projects are established with talent from various artistic proveniences, presenting promising creators, starring magnificent actors and developing new ways of producing beautiful projects.
Nowadays it has a catalogue of 41 films (11 Features, 21 shorts, 9 Documentaries) and 5 TV series, an equivalent to 50 hours of fiction and audiovisual documentary of original Portuguese production. Throughout its activity, the company moved funds over ten million euros (€ 10,000.000) for the production of all these works, in which between 25-40% are international support or non-state funding.
These productions were premiered and selected by several national and international festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, Edinburgh, Toronto, Stockholm, Sydney, New Directors / New Films / MOMA, Austin SX / SW, Karoly Vary, Pusan, FantasPorto, IndieLisbon, Vila do Conde Short and Caminhos do Cinema Português among many others, obtaining numerous nominations, distinctions and national and international awards, including the world Dramatic Competition of SUNDANCE 2005.
A very significant part of its productions was theatrical released, commercially available on DVD and were broadcasted on national and international television. Some managed to get production distribution and international broadcast on several continents.
Was a founding member of the former APC - Film Producers Association (2001) and is the founder of APCA - Producers Association of Cinema and Audiovisual in 2013.
