David Castro
Visual and Sound Artist
David is a visual artist, poet, and sound creator whose practice operates at the intersection of contemporary art, sound, image, language, and ethics. His work consistently addresses power structures, violence, memory, and their impact on vulnerable bodies—particularly children.
He has training in painting, literature, poetry, photography, and video creation, developed largely through an autodidactic trajectory complemented by university-level studies in the arts. His artistic references range from Picasso, Rubens, and Bach to contemporary practices in political, pedagogical, and sound-based art.
Castro works across multiple formats—including installation, video, sound, and writing—and is currently researching sound art as a critical and ethical space, deliberately resisting the spectacularization of pain in favor of attentiveness and restraint.
“Overdose of Childhood Pain” is part of an ongoing body of work focused on war, childhood, and the responsibility of art in fostering social awareness.
