Davi Kinski works in theater, film, and literature. A graduate of the International Film Academy (AIC), he has directed several short films, including Cineminha (small cinema), which has won awards and been screened at festivals in Italy and the United States.
His first feature-length documentary, Poemaria (2024), was awarded first place in the São Paulo State Culture Secretariat Award for completion and had its world premiere at the 52nd Gramado Film Festival, in the competitive documentary feature section. In 2025, the film consolidated an impressive international trajectory, winning the Best Director of a Feature-Length Documentary Award at the Tokyo Film Awards, as well as the Best Documentary Film Award at the Search Light International Film Festival in Mumbai, India. It also received the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Cinema and Transcendence International Film Festival in Brasília, as well as Honorable Mentions at the Santos Film Fest and the Athens International Art Film Festival. Poemaria was part of the Official Selection of important festivals in Brazil, Europe, Asia and the United States, with national premieres in countries such as China (Tianjin), India, Italy (Rome), Romania (Bucharest), Russia (Moscow), Sweden (Stockholm), Germany (Cologne) and the United States (Portland and New York).
In 2025, he released the short film Alice, Five Minutes Before Sunset as a director, selected for its premiere in the United States at the Culver City Film Festival in Hollywood. The film won the Best International Short Film award at the Bangkok Film Awards and the Tamizhagam International Film Festival in India, in addition to being nominated for Best Short Film and Best Soundtrack awards at the Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles.
As an actor, he was nominated for Best Actor at the 2008 Gramado Film Festival for the film Nome Próprio and participated in several theatrical productions, including the monologue Lixo e Purpurina. In literature, he published the poetry book Corpo Partido (Broken Body) and the biography Pasolini, do Neorrealismo ao Cinema Poesia (Pasolini, from Neorealism to Cinema Poetry), which was nominated for the Jabuti Prize. He also works as a lyricist, with compositions recorded in projects such as Buscando Buskers (Searching for Buskers) and A Trilha Sonora da Cidade (The City's Soundtrack), both of which have received international awards.
In addition to his artistic production, he has taught at institutions such as the Oswald de Andrade Cultural Workshop and collaborated on curatorial projects and cultural activities related to events and institutions such as FLIP, MASP, and Instituto Mix Brasil.
