Dave Hoekstra is a Chicago author, documentarian and radio host.

He was a columnist-critic at the Chicago Sun-Times from 1985 through 2014, where he won a 2013 Studs Terkel Community Media Award. He is a weekend host on WGN-AM 720 in Chicago. His book “The People’s Place (Soul Food Restaurants and Reminiscences From the Civil Rights Era to Today)|” was released October, 2015 on Chicago Review Press. In June, 2018 he released "The Camper Book (A Celebration of a Moveable American Dream)" on Chicago Review Press.
