Darkness in the Fields is a one-day film festival running each March in Derby, serving up a day of folk horror features, shorts and more. Our events to date have seen preview screenings of The Moor, All You Need is Death, Mudbrick, The Severed Sun and To Fire You Come at Last, along with our first short film showcase and a classic screening of The Borderlands. The event runs again on the 21st March 2026 at QUAD, Derby's independent cinema and art space - https://www.derbyquad.co.uk/

No prizes awarded at present, but laurels are provided for films selected.

Rules & Terms

Darkness in the Fields Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilise an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.

The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorised to commit the film for screening(s) during the festival date, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Darkness in the Fields Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to legal fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
