The enemy of art is the absence of limitation.
Award-winning writer/director Damien Blackshaw was born and grew up in London, where he majored in History with Politics at Queen Mary College, University of London. Following that he gained a full scholarship to the London Academy of Performing Arts, to train as an actor for three years.
He did extensive work on the London stage and a seven-month tour of Germany, before moving to Sydney, Australia. He spent five very enjoyable years there, before moving to Los Angeles in 2008. During his time in Sydney Damien branched out into writing and directing, both for the stage and film. His first short, ‘The Break Up’, was screened at several important film festivals.
Since moving to LA Damien has continued to work on stage and in television and film, as an actor. He has also developed several projects as a writer and/or director, including ‘Louis Grant’ (which won several acting and directing awards) and an ongoing sketch comedy series called ‘Miscues, Miscuts and Misctakes’.
Damien currently resides in Los Angeles, where he founded an events company that has welcomed over fifteen thousand people to more than two thousand experiences since 2013, while developing new and interesting projects, both for the screen and stage.
