Double Exposure, the United States’ premier film festival dedicated exclusively to investigative reporting, is collaborating with Reel South, the acclaimed PBS series that showcases stories from the American South. The DX Reel South Investigative Short Award invites filmmakers and video journalists exploring Southern themes to compete for a cash prize. Eligible filmmakers can submit a film under 40 minutes on FilmFreeway.

Not sure about what makes an investigative film? It is a genre where research, evidence, personal interrogation, and/or archives uncover hidden truths, reframed histories, or wrongdoings. - There will be a cash prize dependent upon the length of the winning film.

- The winning film will be screened at Double Exposure and filmmaker travel will be compensated.

- Films must be investigative in nature and under 40 minutes.
- Films selected must not have been previously available to Washington, DC audiences, either through theatrical release or streaming.
