DIG Festival is Europe's leading festival devoted to investigative journalism and reportage. The DIG Awards are our international competition, open to documentaries and podcasts.

The 12th edition of the Festival will take place in Modena (Italy) from September 23 to 27, 2026.

The DIG Awards acknowledge excellence in journalism and encourage the work of reporters who use video and audio to investigate current social, economic, technological, environmental and political issues.

The DIG Awards are presented each year to outstanding works of international calibre, in terms of quality, angle, depth of inquiry, the use of sources and the originality of format.

The selection the most deserving project in each of the competition categories is entrusted to an international jury of journalists, directors and communications professionals.

The competition is open to productions by freelance journalists, media companies and news outlets, radio/tv stations, platforms, consortia, non-profit organizations.

This submission website accepts applications for all the following 6 DIG Awards video and audio categories:

- Investigative Long (Video - 50 minutes or longer)
- Reportage Long (Video - 50 minutes or longer)
- Investigative Medium (Video - 20 to 50 minutes)
- Reportage Medium (Video - 20 to 50 minutes)
- Short (Video - 20 minutes or shorter)
- Podcast (Audio - All lengths)

DIG PITCH «MATTEO SCANNI» 2026
We also award a DIG Pitch category that gives € 15.000 in funding for the development of a documentary. All relevant info can be found in our call for entries.

Works and projects published between June 1 2025 and June 6 2026 are eligible for the DIG Awards 2026. We accept released and unreleased works.

● All video works entered into the competition must be subtitled in English. Non-english audio projects must be accompanied by an English transcript.

● There is no limit to the number of works that can be entered by a single individual or entity, but each must fill in a single online entry form.

The DIG Association reserves the right to exclude from the competition works that clearly violate copyright law, or that do not respect all the competition guidelines. Under no circumstances will DIG Association be held responsible for any unauthorised use of protected material. Anonymous works or works without a valid reference are not admitted. Works entered in the competition must have fulfilled their obligations under copyright and related rights legislation.
