Clubes de Cinema is a project by Cineclube do Porto that uses cinema as a tool for social change. Over two school years (2025-2027), the project will be carried out in 9 middle schools, with a curated selection of 40 to 50 films that address Bullying and Cyberbullying, as well as other important social issues like dating violence, discrimination, gender inequality, and the integration of minorities. Approximately 200 students will participate throughout the project.

The project’s weekly club meetings aim to develop students' cinema understanding and empower them with skills in communication, budget management, event organisation, and institutional representation. These activities will help students actively contribute to their community and organise the screenings.

Each club will organise public screenings in various venues, including the schools, with the final event taking place in a major art house venue in June 2026. An Audience Award will be presented in both fiction and documentary categories.

The selected films will form a collection that students will engage with throughout the project, helping them curate the intermediate sessions and the final event.

For filmmakers: By submitting your film to Clubes de Cinema, you have the opportunity to be part of a collection of 40 films that will be watched and discussed by students throughout the project. Your film may be selected for one of the intermediate screenings or the final event in June 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for your work to reach a young and socially-conscious audience, sparking meaningful discussions on current social issues such as bullying, cyberbullying, violence, and inequality.
