The Climate Change Film Challenge will hold its inaugural screening on May 13th, 2023 at the Vinegar Hill Theatre and will be presented by Light House Studio and the Community Climate Collaborative (C3).

We are looking for films that show a unique insight into the issue of Climate Change. The films should be inspiring, engaging, and should motivate people to want to help solve this global problem. All types of film submissions are welcome, such as documentary, narrative, animation, and experimental. The selected films will be shown in Charlottesville, VA to a wide and a diverse section of the community. If you have an important and impactful message on the topic of climate change, this is the perfect opportunity for your voice to be heard.

This is a youth festival. Filmmakers between the ages 11-21 are eligible.

Makes You Think Jury Award: $300
Audience Award: $300
Honorable Mention: $100

SUBMIT your film via FilmFreeway by Jan 12th (earlybird submission) or April 15, 2023 (regular submission). Films should be 15 minutes or less completed after Jan. 1st, 2020.
There is a $10 earlybird deadline submission fee, and a $20 regular deadline submission fee. Please note: films over 15:00 minutes will not be considered for the program.

    I really enjoyed participating in the Climate Change Film Challenge. There were an engaged group of filmmakers who spoke and films on a wide range of topics. The theater was the perfect size for the event.
