I grew up in the small town of Keota, Iowa, and graduated from Buena Vista University with a degree in English Secondary Education. My creative career began in 2007 with dramatic short skits and evolved into a one-act play, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for storytelling.
While in college, I joined the University Cable Network, a student-run station where I worked as a sports producer, served as technical director for campus news, and created commercials for national brands including Pizza Hut and Godfather’s Pizza. In 2009, I wrote Chasing You, a 40-minute romantic comedy that premiered in November 2010 and received Best Student Production from the Iowa Motion Picture Association.
After college, I completed the short film From Here, which earned an IMPA Award of Achievement for Best Original Music in 2011. I then expanded my creative work beyond narrative film—directing music videos for Iowa bands, producing a documentary for Shatter, and creating short-form comedy projects such as The Ring of Shame and GitNSplit Lemonade.
In 2014, I welcomed the first of my three daughters and shifted my focus toward family while continuing to develop creative projects behind the scenes.
I returned to narrative filmmaking in 2023 with my first feature-length screenplay, The Gates, produced with an all-Iowa cast and crew. The film features seven original songs by Iowa artists, twelve shooting locations, and a cast of twenty. The Gates was nominated for an IMPA Award for Full Length Feature in 2025 and won the Golden Eddy for Best Hobbyist Long Form Feature at CRIFF.
In 2025, I served as an independent set design consultant for Iowa Health and Human Services and produced public awareness commercials focused on HPV prevention and alcohol awareness.
Most recently, I premiered Littles, a quirky comedy about the tragedies of growing up too soon, featuring a cast of 32 children under the age of twelve. I am currently developing and writing Plant Zaddy, my latest narrative project and plan to film a short, Happy in early 2026.
I currently reside in Newton, Iowa, where I continue to write, produce, and tell stories rooted in community, creativity, and heart.
