Cinema Sonica is one night of improvised music and silent short films. It is a free and public event occuring at SpaceTime Collaborative in Signal Hill, CA on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 at 7:30pm. At the event, musicians improvise live scores to silent short films by local filmmakers. Film submissions are due Friday, May 12, 2023. Musicians must contact firstname.lastname@example.org before the musician interest meeting on June 2nd, 2023 @7pm.

This is not a competition. There are no awards. There is no entrance fee or submission fee. The event is free, public, celebratory, inclusive, and artistic.
Local filmmakers are invited to submit silent short films via FilmFreeway or email@example.com.
Submissions must not contain graphic nudity, graphic violence, or hate crimes. Films are preferred to be less than 15 minutes. Submit silent films only. If your film originally had sound, please submit a silent copy. Filmmakers may submit two films. New and past works will be accepted.
If more than 70 minutes of material total is submitted, priority will go to submissions from filmmakers who are local to Long Beach and/or will be able to attend the event. Submissions are due Friday, May 12 via Film Freeway. Late submissions may be submitted via firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may submit a film and participate as a musician, but not for your own film. Musicians may perform as a solo, duet, or group. Local musicians must attend an information meeting and preliminary screening on Friday, June 2nd at 7pm. (Please email email@example.com if you are unable to make this date.) Musicians will choose in advance which short films they would like to improvise with at the Cinema Sonica event on June 23rd. Musicians are encouraged to bring their own instruments, which will be safely stored during the event. Some equipment and instruments will be provided.
