Chris Bowman is a queer, non-binary filmmaker and artist. Their work centers queer and trans characters within classic genre narratives. They hope that by appropriating these genres they can provide cathartic, joyful onscreen representation previously denied to the queer community, as well as a critique of the premise of these genres. They believe that queer joy and imagination provides a blueprint for a better future for all.
After graduating from Colorado College with a bachelor's in Political Science, they worked briefly at National Geographic as an Assistant Editor before moving to NYC to pursue a dream of working in film. They spent two years working in art departments on everything from feature films to music videos, eventually working their way up to production designing several short films and music videos. They are currently pursuing their MFA in Directing at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema and are slated to graduate in 2024.
