Submissions:
The 2022 festival welcomes films produced after January 2018. Films are accepted from any country - worldwide. If selected we will need a digital download of your movie file for exhibition. If your film is not in English, we require English subtitles. Foreign selections can provide a HD digital file for exhibition.
Jury:
Our jury, festival directors and committee are made up of volunteers who work in the film industry including filmmakers, producers, journalists, authors, and actors.
Notification:
The festival committee makes all programming decisions and will notify filmmakers by email of Official Selection status.

By submitting, filmmakers agree that:
They hold The Chicago Horror Film Awards and its owners, management, juries, subsidiaries, agents, sponsors, affiliates, and etc. harmless from any and all claims of liability resulting from their entry.
They certify that they have full rights to the use of the music in the entered work.
They give permission for The Chicago Horror Film Awards (and reps) to use stills, titles, copy, and/or information from the film for promotional purposes.
They give permission for The Chicago Horror Film Awards to screen the film as part of the Festival for which it was submitted.
If selected, they will provide The Chicago Horror Film Awards with a digital copy of their film's movie poster (in vertical format) for use on the festival website.
We require films initially be submitted via FilmFreeway but also online screeners, i.e. private Youtube or Vimeo links work as well. We do not accept physical preview copies (i.e. DVDs).
In submitting your film or video to The Chicago Horror Film Awards you guarantee that you have all the relevant permissions, licenses and releases for your film or video to be screened in a public exhibition. You must have in your possession the permissions, licenses and releases for the submitted film or video's music, script, actors etc. Films must be completed in 2019 or later.
While care will be taken, we are unable to guarantee the safety of your DVD, Blu-ray, hard drive, or film while in our possession, or in transit. If selected to screen at the festival, please do not send us a master copy, or your only copy of the film.
We do not pay for shipping of Blu-Ray, digital media file, DCP, or DVD. If selected to screen at the festival, filmmaker agrees to arrange for and pay for shipping of film or DCP to the festival in Chicago.
Additional publicity materials (stills, posters etc.) are encouraged if your film is selected to screen at the festival (although not required).
There is no refunds on any submission for any reason whatsoever. All sales are final. If you do not get selected you do not get your submission fee back.
