Want to see your work on the big screen? We’re looking for local filmmakers based in the North West of England and North Wales to showcase at our community group meet-ups at Storyhouse, Chester.

We welcome films from people of all abilities, backgrounds and experience levels.

Chester Filmmakers is a free, monthly community group for local filmmakers. Each event begins with a short film showcase in the cinema, followed by relaxed post-screening discussions in The Kitchen.

Our goal is to support our growing community of filmmakers by providing a platform to share their work and a friendly space to connect with other creatives.

Event dates:
• Wednesday 24 June 2026, 6pm
• Wednesday 15 July 2026, 6pm

How long can my film be?
Films must be 20 minutes or less to allow us enough time to showcase other filmmakers’ submissions.

Do you accept works in progress?
Your submission doesn’t need to be a final work. We welcome works-in-progress, rough cuts, and excerpts from longer projects. If you have something to show, we’d love to see it!

Do I have to attend?
To support and develop our community group, filmmakers must be available to attend their screening in person. This allows you to introduce your work and participate in post-screening conversations.

Eligibility & Location
Chester Filmmakers is intended for local filmmakers. Submissions are open to creators based in Chester, Cheshire, and the surrounding areas (including Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington, and North Wales), provided you are able to attend in person. Please include your city or region in your submission notes or cover letter.

Is there an age requirement?
All submitting filmmakers must be 18 years of age or older.
