🎥 Charlotte International Dance Film Festival (CIDFF)

Where movement meets the lens.

The Charlotte International Dance Film Festival (CIDFF) is a bold celebration of the intersection between dance and cinema. Rooted in the vibrant arts scene of Charlotte, North Carolina, CIDFF amplifies voices, stories, and rhythms from around the world—honoring the powerful synergy of visual storytelling and embodied expression.

In our inaugural year, CIDFF is calling for films that explore the boundless language of movement—from experimental shorts and screendance works to narrative dance films and performance documentaries. We welcome creators who dare to push boundaries, celebrate cultural roots, and move audiences emotionally, physically, and politically.

Join us March 20–22, 2026, for a dynamic weekend of screenings, panels, workshops, and community connection. Whether you’re a filmmaker, dancer, choreographer, or curious viewer, CIDFF offers an immersive experience where creativity and culture collide.

Though my film was selected, when I inquired, it would only be screened online months after the festival.

Of the 12 or so films --all under 10 min. --screening during the festival, not even all of those were screened --only if you showed up in person.

Seemed more like a dress-up party event than a dance film festival.

Only the 1st year so maybe they will get things together by next festival time.

Just home from awesome Charlotte International Dance Film Festival. For a first time film festival it was an impressive event and venue. From the dance industry film panels to the elegant awards ceremony that included talented live dance performances. Taylor MacLellan and Anissa Knight were gracious hostess, as were the entire board. The documentary The Tap Dancing Christmas Trees, 3 Generations on Parade was grateful to be selected, and thrilled to be a finalist. Congratulations to the winner Dancing in the Gobi Desert as best documentary. It was gorgeous. As Oscar, my Uber driver said, as he drove me to the airport, "Just being chosen for a film festival is a win". First time in the city of Charlotte and will return, everyone was welcoming and gracious.
