Central Film Festival is one of the only student-led, High School film festivals in the country, hosted in beautiful downtown Springfield Missouri.
For the upcoming 2018 festival, we are excited to offer many things to festival-goers, such as on-site contests, a special opening Friday Fest Film and director talk in the newly restored Central Theatre, and a day of festival screenings at Springfield's arthouse cinema--The Moxie.
Additionally, attendees can continue to enjoy the characteristics that have always made the festival unique, like industry-professional judging, written critiques for the students, and free film submissions (see submission dates to avoid late fees).
Prizes awarded for top film in each categories.
-Films must have been made between April 2017-April 2018 by students who were attending high school when the film was created.
-Entries must not exceed 15 minutes in length, but shorter films might be given preferential treatment due to time limits.
-Submissions must be 100% original and student-created: no blatant parodies of existing works and no help from advisors or professional individuals outside of the classroom (excluding actors).
-Any filmmaker that does not verify their age through their submission will be disqualified.
-PG rated content only: No excessive strong language, blatant sexuality, pointless violence, pointless drug/alcohol/tobacco use (i.e. glorifying destructive behaviors), nudity, child peril, etc.
-The use of copy-written material of any kind (Music, video, images, etc.) will result in your film being removed from the festival.
-As this is a film festival, only films should be submitted; student video projects--such as news stories, music videos, etc.--will not be shown.
-Submission does not guarantee a place in our festival. Various factors such as quality, time constraints, appropriateness or mis-submissions (entering the film in the wrong category) will result in your film being dismissed from inclusion into the festival. Central Film Festival reserves the right to remove any film from the festival due to time constraints or that they feel contradicts the rules of entry stated above.
