I’m Cem Göçmen, a Swedish-born actor and director based in both Istanbul and Malmö. My artistic journey began in front of the camera, performing in a range of TV series and commercials in Sweden and Turkey. In 2014, I moved to Turkey to expand my creative path, immersing myself in a culturally rich and diverse artistic landscape that continues to shape my work today.
Over the years, my passion for storytelling evolved from acting into directing—driven by a desire to create visually striking, emotionally resonant films that reflect the complexities of modern life. In late 2024, I made my directorial debut with Urban Life, a trilogy of short films portraying the silent struggles and rhythms of city dwellers. This project, grounded in minimalist aesthetics and poetic realism, marked the beginning of my voice as a filmmaker and earned recognition for its intimate yet universal themes.
My work often explores the intersection of solitude, routine, and transformation—drawing inspiration from everyday moments, urban spaces, and the internal worlds of characters. I strive to create films that are not only visually compelling but also leave space for reflection and emotional depth.
Currently, I’m developing two new short films and two feature-length projects, continuing to blend my experiences across cultures and disciplines. Whether working in Sweden or Turkey, I aim to tell stories that resonate across borders—stories rooted in sincerity, crafted with intention, and open to interpretation.
