Catia Mencacci is a visual storyteller and filmmaker based in Tuscany, Italy.
After a long journey in photography, where her work received international awards and exhibitions, she has recently shifted her focus to short films — a medium that allows her to expand and deepen her storytelling.
Her creative process often begins in antique markets, where she collects old photographs, letters, and objects. These fragments of the past, already charged with stories and emotions, become the seed for new narratives. Through moving images, she brings them back to life, transforming memory into new emotions.
Her work is strongly experimental, combining traditional visual languages with new techniques, including artificial intelligence. What drives her is the desire to create evocative atmospheres that speak to the viewer’s inner world — always starting from a story to tell, but reshaping it into a dreamlike, poetic dimension.
