Chicago-based songwriter Cat Ellington is widely known for her creative work in three major fields of the arts, including music, movies, and literature. Having written her first song, titled "The Baby's Song," at age 10, she has since composed hundreds of works for her song catalog that spans 24 genres. While she sees herself as a late bloomer in the industry, Ellington's unique diversity as a creative artist is evident in her contributions to her respective fields. In addition to writing five original songs for the motion picture soundtrack to the multi-award-winning psychological thriller Dual Mania, including the award-winning ballad "I Do," Ellington was the casting director and first PA on the project. In literature, Cat Ellington is a notable author and poet. Her works include the Reviews by Cat Ellington series, More Imaginative Than Ordinary Speech, and Memoirs in Gogyohka, among other titles. Ellington's latest album, Instrumentals: Music from the Motion Picture Dual Mania, features her instrumental compositions that were recorded originally with vocals by newcomers Jaki Cavins and DeCarlo Jackson for Dual Mania (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) in 2020. The tracks include "I Do," "The Book of Us," "I'm Still in Love," "Something in Your Eyes," and "Gett Out," a heavy metal piece that Ellington co-wrote with her husband, filmmaker Joseph Strickland. The album, produced by Princeton Brown and Greg Schutte, was released in 2021.
