Carol Bash is an award winning filmmaker with over 25 years of experience as well as a photographer. As the Founder and President of Paradox Films, her current projects include: BLACK WHEN I’M BLUE, a three-part, two-channel installation that explores shifting the present racial paradigm through an Afrofuturistic lens. BLACK WHEN I’M BLUE (Part 1) premiered at Torrents 2024 as part of the “From Atlanta to Venus” exhibition; the award-winning BLUEPRINT FOR MY PEOPLE, a visual poem that interweaves spoken-word narration of Margaret Walker’s poem, “For My People” with contemporary images and rare 19th century cyanotypes (blue photographic prints known as “blueprints”) of African Americans; and the award-winning music video, WINDOWS, that features the song on Future One's latest album, Do We Need Another Psycho. Her previous short film, MORNING AT HEMLOCK HILL FARM, which showcases the natural beauty of a local farm, screened at film festivals and art exhibitions in the Hudson Valley, New York area. Her feature documentary, MARY LOU WILLIAMS: THE LADY WHO SWINGS THE BAND, on this renowned yet unsung jazz genius, premiered nationally on PBS, then Showtime, and is currently available on Kanopy.
