Carly Kimmel is a writer and filmmaker born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated with honors from UC Santa Cruz where she received a BA in English Literature.
Next she spent over a decade working in commercial and music video production where she held all manner of jobs starting as an office intern at Quentin Tarantino’s, A Band Apart and eventually working her way up as a line producer at Michel Gondry’s, Partizan Entertainment.
Over the years she has also freelanced at companies like Anonymous Content, Propaganda, HSI, Smuggler, and Villains and had the good fortune to collaborate as a producer for directors like Ruben Fleischer, Olivier Gondry, Mike Piscetelli, Josh and Xander, Traktor, Phillip Andelman and many others.
In 2006, she completed a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from UC Riverside where, upon completion, she stayed on as a professor of Fiction for the next five years.
After taking a break to focus on raising her children, Carly enrolled in the directing program at UCLA Extension, where she continues to learn and hone her craft as a visual story-teller.
