Born in OPorto, 1957. Degree in Fine Arts (Painting) by ESBAP (now FBAUP) in 1981. PHD in Contemporary Art by Universidade de Vigo, Spain (Sculpture Department, 2014. Scholarship from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Foundation for Science and Technology, FCT) between 2009-2012. He is Professor at the Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP), being one of its founders, and the Course director of the Bachelor of Fine and Intermediate Arts degree programme. As artist , began to exhibit in 1978: he did six individual exhibitions and took part in more than 170 collective ones, in Portugal and abroad. Between 1976 and 1981 he worked in animation films, included two 16 mm films financed by the Instituto Português do Cinema (IPC) , produced by Cinematógrafo - colectivo de intervenção, of which he was one of the founders. In 2015, he started working in filmmaking again, having already directed six films, presented and awarded at dozens of International Film Festivals.
