The Capital Filmmakers Festival is dedicated to showcasing independent filmmakers from around the world to a global audience. We will visit numerous Capitals around the globe.

The Capital Filmmakers Film Festival is all about bringing together different cultures, different cities and different point of views.

So come and join the Capital Filmmakers Festival Berlin edition in 2025 and experience the culture and wonder of Berlin!

Awards & Prizes

Varying awards are given each edition. Each award winner receives:

- Digital laurel

Official selection and semifinalists also receive digital laurels.

Rules & Terms

Any year of production is accepted.

Films that are already distributed online are accepted.

The “Short shorts” category is for shorts under 10 minutes in length.

The “Shorts” category is for films up to 40 minutes in length.

The “Feature” category is for films that are more than 40 minutes in length.

Films that use third party material must have the necessary rights and permissions to use this material.

If your submission is officially selected, the festival may screen your film as part of their activities for up to 12 months after the festival date. By sending us your submission, you agree with this unless this is specifically stated to us by email. For all these screenings between festivals, a special permission will be requested stating a time frame and the city.

We do not pay screening fees.

We do not provide invitation letters for visa purposes.

The decisions of the programmers and jury are final and irrevocable.

By submitting to us, you consent to receive occasional emails with tips and discount codes for this and partner festivals (approximately four times a year). You can reach out to us on berlin@capitalfilmmakersfestival.com if you do not wish to be on this list or, alternatively, unsubscribe when you receive the first email. We will never spam and we will only send you information that we believe is valuable to you!

    Festival hasn't kept up their website or IG. FBook lists winners but I couldn't find any info if there was an actual venue or streaming. They need to do a better Job at promotion as filmmakers are interested in when and where their films are shown and acknowledgment on the festival website. A laurel is nice, but not enough.

    Please reach out to us at berlin@capitalfilmmakersfestival.com if you have any specific concerns that we can help you with. We sent a note here on FilmFreeway to every film being screened with the date and location of its screening. We were not able to keep up with social media this year. Most of our audience consists of local people and we are a small team of mostly volunteers, so it is not always a priority for us. We are also behind on revealing the winners for this edition, which we apologise for. We will work so neither of those situations happens again in the future.
