The festival is hosted in New York where we find the art form of filmmaking to be at the forefront of storytelling.

As a non-profit endeavor, CSFF was established to create a platform for up and coming filmmakers. The festival showcases independent short films of all genres with a focus on supporting an emerging community of artists within the world of independent filmmaking.

The first Canal Street Film Festival edition was hosted at the Knickerbocker
Flagship on the corner of Canal and Wooster St. in SoHo. While the venue
provided a great launching pad for the festival, we quickly realized that for the
2nd edition we would need to relocate to a more significant venue to host as
many New York City film heads as we could.

For our second annual Canal Street Film Festival we moved to the TriBeCa
Synagogue in Manhattan, New York City, just blocks from Canal Street and the
Knickerbocker flagship store. The space has been a supporter of the arts for
many years and was once named the "Synagogue for the Arts". The festival
sold out a few days before prior to the event with over 250 attendees.

The audience will be offered the chance to cast a vote for their favorite film of the evening for our "Audience Award"
