Caleb Mills Stewart is a forty-something Los Angeles-based filmmaker who turned a homework assignment into a nine-time award-winning documentary. His film "Golden Wings: 50 Year Flight Path" began as a 9-minute student project shot on a Samsung S20 at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. It has since won Best Short Documentary at festivals across three continents, Best Cinematography at Silicon Beach, and Best First-Time Director at Magic Silver Screen proving that powerful stories don't need permission from a budget.
Before filmmaking, Caleb spent three decades on stage and screen as an actor, and three years as an exchange student at the University of the Balearic Islands in Mallorca where Golden Wings recently screened at the Palma Film Festival, a homecoming thirty years in the making. His intimate directing style and refusal to look away from uncomfortable truths marks him as a voice in documentary filmmaking who earned his wings the hard way.
