The Cathedral Village Arts Festival is proud to present the first edition of the YQR Cell-Film Festival. Our goal is to celebrate the simple act of making art with what is already in your hands. We challenge emerging or experienced Regina filmmakers to use their smart phones as a tool to make films that are 2 minutes or less that reflect the community.

We will be giving be giving out awards for Best of Fest, Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Youth categories. Laurels will be sent out to all official selections.

All films submitted must be shot on a mobile phone or tablet. Any film shot on a DSLR or on film will not be accepted. Drone footage may be used in moderation (no more than 10% of the film may be drone footage). Additional production equipment such as lights, special lenses, mikes, stabilizers, etc. are permitted.

All submissions must be 2 minutes or less.

All films must be a creative reflection of the greater Regina community.

Submissions may be edited using any software or program.

Films submitted in a language other than English must have subtitles.

Only one film is allowed per submitter, and must be submitted by the filmmaker or a parent/guardian--no distributors.

Films must have been completed no earlier than August 1st, 2023. Footage may be from any point in time.

All entries must be original material and must not infringe on the copyright, trademark, or other rights of any individual.

All entries will be reviewed and organizers reserve the right not to screen films that feature offensive or unsuitable material.

All entries will be adjudicated by members of Regina’s independent film community.

Submitting your film does not guarantee acceptance or screening in the festival; Organizers reserve the right to place films in an alternate category if they see fit. All filmmakers will be notified by May 10th, 2024 if their film has been selected. Official selections will be screened at CVAF on May 24th, 2024, and the winners of each category will have their films available to watch on the CVAF website for the following 12 months after they are announced.

Submissions will be open no earlier than April 1st, 2024 and no later than April 28th, 2024.

By submitting to the festival, participants agree to the use of their film in any matter and on any platform the CFAV team sees fit for 12 months after the date of submission.
