The cultural association Fems du cinéma is pleased to announce the first edition of the Short Film Contest on Water, which will take place in the charming setting of the Arsenale Docks in Venice, hosted by the Cinema Barch-in event, organized by Nicola Scopelliti, Caterina Groli, and Silvia Rasia with the artistic consultancy and curation of the Association, which has become a point of reference for Venetian summers and is now in its fifth edition.
The Contest is realized in collaboration with Quarta Parete, a project of the association UdU - Union of University Students Venice, aimed at bringing young people back to cinemas through various projects including cineforums. With the exceptional participation on the jury of Lia Furxhi from the Cinemambiente Festival, the first environmental-themed film festival, which strengthens its relationship with Cinema Barch-in for the second year.
This year's thematic journey is "Travel and Sustainability," which implies all those values and cultural heritage that can make everyday life more sustainable, such as artisanal tradition. Indeed, craftsmanship in recent years has been rediscovered and pursued by many young entities as a sustainable economic model for the environment. Nature, environment, sustainability, but also travel, as the artistic program theme of this year's Barch-in event is based on the figure of the traveler, referring to the merchant and traveler Marco Polo, on the occasion of his 700 years since his death.
Venice, with its wealth of knowledge, represents a crossroads and a miscellany of traditions. Artisanship not only embodies sustainability but also serves as a connecting element that enriches travel experiences, as demonstrated by the Arsenale where Barchin is located. The techniques, often influenced by global trends, give rise to excellences that are the result of cultural fusions from different parts of the world.
L’Associazione culturale Fems du cinéma è lieta di annunciare la prima edizione del Concorso di cortometraggi in acqua che si terrà nella suggestiva cornice dei Bacini dell’Arsenale di Venezia ospitato dall’evento Cinema Barch-in, di Nicola Scopelliti, Caterina Groli e Silvia Rasia con la consulenza e curatoria artistica dell’Associazione, diventato punto di riferimento delle estati veneziane e arrivato alla sua quinta edizione.
Il Concorso è realizzato in collaborazione con Quarta Parete, un progetto dell’associazione UdU – Unione degli Universitari Venezia che ha come obiettivo di riportare i giovani nelle sale cinematografiche attraverso vari progetti tra cui i cineforum. Con la partecipazione eccezionale in giuria di Lia Furxhi del Festival Cinemambiente, il primo Festival di cinema di tematica ambientale, che rafforza per il secondo anno il suo rapporto Cinema Barch-in.
Il percorso tematico di quest'anno é "Viaggi e sostenibilità, che sottintende tutto quell'insieme di valori e patrimonio culturale che possono rendere la vita di ogni giorno più sostenibile come la tradizione artigiana. L'Artigianato infatti negli ultimi anni è stato riscoperto e portato avanti da molte giovani realtà come modello economico sostenibile per l’ambiente. Natura, ambiente, sostenibilita' ma anche viaggio, poiché la tematica del programma artistico dell’evento Barch-in di quest’anno si basa sulla figura del viaggiatore, riferendosi al mercante e viaggiatore Marco Polo, nella ricorrenza dai 700 anni della sua morte.
Venezia, con la sua ricchezza di saperi, rappresenta un crocevia e una miscellanea di tradizioni. L'artigianato non solo incarna la sostenibilità, ma anche un elemento che collega e arricchisce le esperienze di viaggio, come dimostra l'Arsenale in cui si colloca Barchin. Le tecniche, spesso contaminate da influenze globali, danno vita a eccellenze che sono il frutto di fusioni culturali provenienti da diverse parti del mondo.
Selection: A jury composed of industry experts will select the five finalist short films, which will be screened during the festival.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- Best Short Film
- Special Mention Cinemambiente (The winner will be screened at the next edition of the Cinemambiente Festival in Turin)
Registration Fee: Participation in the festival requires a fee of €10, and each author can submit a maximum of 2 shorts.
Selezione: Una giuria composta da esperti del settore selezionerà i cinque cortometraggi finalisti, che saranno proiettati durante il festival.
Premi: Saranno assegnati i premi nelle seguenti categorie:
● Miglior Cortometraggio
● Menzione speciale Cinemambiente (Il vincitore verrà proiettato alla prossima edizione del Festival Cinemambiente di Torino)
Tassa di iscrizione: La partecipazione al festival richiede una quota di 10 € e si possono iscrivere un massimo di 2 corti per autore.
