Kras Comedy Fest – Isle of Laughter is a small but bold international festival dedicated to smart, original and inclusive humor.
We love comedies that make people think while they laugh — satire, parody, absurd, or socially aware humor are all welcome.
We especially appreciate visual and universal humor — stories that can make people laugh regardless of language or culture.
Clever use of gestures, timing, or absurd situations often travels better than long dialogues.
No random funny clips, please – we love humor, but we also love our time. 😉

The festival takes place on the Croatian island of Krk (yes, the one with real sunshine and sea), and celebrates creativity through open-air screenings, absurd awards, and a relaxed Mediterranean vibe.

We are proudly non-profit and run by volunteers, organized by Udruga Spirit (Rijeka, Croatia), also known for the regional Uhvati Film festival.
Our goal is to promote humor that connects, not divides.

- Please submit your film (up to 20 Minutes!!)
via FilmFreeway with: - A short synopsis (max 100 words). - Director’s bio (max 50 words). - Screening copy (MP4 or similar, HD quality). - 2–3 stills or poster (JPG/PNG, min 1200px).
- subtitle (.srt) croatian or english (Serbian, Bosnian... is OK)

- The Golden Kras (main award – no financial prize, but eternal glory).

All submission fees go directly into the Festival Prize Fund, which will also be augmented by sponsors.
Prizes will not be awarded in cash, but exclusively in the form of accommodation, local products, cultural/gastronomic packages, or other tangible benefits.

Rules & Terms

1) Films and Subtitles
- Films (up to 20min) must include embedded subtitles or separate .srt.
- Accepted: Croatian (including SR/BS/MNE variants) or English.
- Films not in HR/BHS/EN must include English subtitles.
- Minimum resolution: 1920×1080 (HD). Delivery: .mp4 or .mov (H.264). Higher-quality formats (e.g. ProRes) may be accepted by agreement.

Films relying mainly on dialogue should include accurate English subtitles.
However, we particularly encourage submissions where humor works beyond words — through action, character, timing, or situation.

2) Deadlines & Selection
- Submissions are accepted until [see date].
- Submission does not guarantee selection. The Festival reserves the right to decline or withdraw a film.

3) Non-profit nature & fees
- The Festival is non-profit, entrance is free.
- No honoraria, fees, or other payments to filmmakers.
- All submission fees go directly to the Festival Prize Fund, additionally supported by sponsors.
- Prizes are not awarded in cash, but in the form of real benefits (weekend stays on Krk, local products, gastronomic packages).
Fees & Waivers:
– Submission fees, if any, help cover technical costs and the prize fund.
– Waiver codes may be offered to invited authors or partner festivals.

4) Screening & Promotion Rights
- If selected, filmmaker grants the Festival a non-exclusive licence to:
a) publicly screen the film during the Festival and possible encores;
b) use up to 60 seconds of footage or the official trailer (up to 120 seconds), plus poster, stills, synopsis for promotional purposes;
c) publish such materials on the web, social media, press, or non-commercial compilations.
- Licence duration: Festival period + up to 3 years, worldwide.
- The Festival does not sell or sub-license rights to third parties, except by separate written agreement.

5) Filmmaker’s warranties
The filmmaker warrants that they own or have obtained all rights, and that the film does not infringe laws or third-party rights.

6) Content restrictions
The Festival may refuse or withdraw films promoting hate, violence, discrimination, or unlawful content.

7) Liability & Force Majeure
The Festival is not liable for damage, loss, or technical issues of submitted materials.
The Festival may reschedule or cancel screenings in case of force majeure (natural disasters, epidemics, technical failures).
8) Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash value. If the awardee cannot personally redeem the prize, they may transfer it to another individual, provided that all conditions and validity periods set by the sponsor/prize provider are respected (e.g. accommodation availability window, voucher expiry date, etc.

9) Communication & data
Filmmaker agrees to be contacted via e-mail about selection, scheduling, and promotion. Data are used only for festival purposes.

11) Withdrawal
Withdrawal is possible before programme announcement; after announcement, at Festival’s discretion.

12) Governing law
These terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Croatia. Court of Rijeka has jurisdiction.
