The China–Indonesia Friendship Short Documentary Festival is an international virtual 收short film festival dedicated to showcasing compelling documentary storytelling that reflects the cultural, social, and historical ties between China and Indonesia.

Guided by leading institutions including the China International Communications Group and supported by both Chinese and Indonesian diplomatic missions, this ducumentary festival aims to provide a global platform for filmmakers, content creators, and storytellers to present authentic narratives of cross-cultural exchange, collaboration, and friendship.

The festival adopts a fully online format, allowing global participation and digital screenings. Selected works will be featured on the festival’s official platform and may be included in related cultural exchange initiatives, academic forums, and international promotional activities.

THEMES
For any works in any category, they must fall under one of the themes below:

THEME I: Humanitarian Stories: Heart Bridges along the Maritime Silk Road
Celebrating people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia. This section will tell stories about how the people have built mutual understanding and close ties through tourism, education, culture, think tanks, media, sports, as well as women’s and youth exchanges.

THEME II: Economic Cooperation
This section will highlight the flourishing economic and trade cooperation between China and Indonesia, featuring stories of bilateral trade, e-commerce, and business collaboration.

THEME III: ESG, Green Development: Blue Wonders
This section will show how China and Indonesia work hand in hand to protect the ecological environment, with inspiring examples in joint efforts in sustainable development, ecological preservation, ocean exploration, and the transition to clean energy.

THEME IV: Digital and Tech Innovation for a Shared Future
This section invites stories of China-Indonesia cooperation in scientific and technological innovation in diverse formats such as short videos, documentaries, creative animation, comics, and digital art.

Submissions may include previously published works, provided they align with the festival theme.

•International productions are qualified.

•Films must be less than 40 minutes.

•Projects must have been completed in the past three years.

•All submission must align with at least one theme: "Heart Bridges along the Maritime Silk Road", "Win-Win Cooperation", " Blue Wonders", "Innovation for a Shared Future
Technology, science, digital collaboration"

•Entries should include subtitles in the original language (and or Chinese). If the submitted work is in Chinese, subtitles in Indonesian or English are required.

•Works produced with the assistance of AI must be clearly indicated in the application materials.

•Submission must be presented in Chinese, English or Indonesia.
