CCA Presents: The Reading Room
A Virtual Table Read & Script Development Series

The Reading Room is a new initiative by Casting Calls America (CCA) designed to connect writers and actors through collaboration and live performance.

Each cycle, six scripts will be selected to participate in this creative series. Each chosen script will receive its own dedicated virtual table read, scheduled once per month over a six-month period. Every reading is cast entirely through the CCA platform. The virtual reading will be then be organized, recorded, edited, and published by CCA on its YouTube channel.

This is not a competition, it’s a creative workshop space. Writers are encouraged to submit rough or in-progress scripts, and actors help bring those stories to life in a recorded read-through format. The goal is to let writers hear their work performed, receive valuable feedback, and grow their craft. All while providing actors a chance to perform, network, and showcase their skills in front of an engaged creative audience.

Join us in The Reading Room as we bring scripts off the page and into performance..

Six scripts will be selected to be featured in The Reading Room. Each chosen script will be performed in one of six monthly showcases, bringing the writer’s work to life with actors and a workshop discussion.

Selected writers receive:
- A full virtual table read of their script.
- Constructive written feedback from the participating actors and the judging panel.
- A professionally edited recording of the reading, featured on CCA’s YouTube channel.
- Promotion across CCA’s social media and newsletter platforms.

Writers whose scripts are not selected will still receive detailed written feedback from the judging panel, providing valuable insight to strengthen their work for future opportunities.

- Submissions are open to screenplays, teleplays, stage plays, and audio dramas of any genre.

- Only scripts or portions of scripts up to 70 pages in length will be accepted.

- Writers may submit multiple scripts, but only one script per writer may be selected.

- Submissions must be in English and from the United States of America, as that is the market that CCA covers.

- All submissions must be made through FilmFreeway.

- Selected writers will be contacted directly by Casting Calls America (CCA) to coordinate casting and scheduling.

- Table reads will be conducted virtually and recorded for CCA’s YouTube and social media channels.

- Writers retain full ownership and copyright of their work.

- By submitting, writers grant CCA non-exclusive rights to present the table read and promotional clips derived from it. Their script will not be publically presented by CCA in written form.

- Selected writers are expected to collaborate with CCA staff in preparing for the virtual reading (e.g., casting, scheduling, pre-read materials).

Providing proof of authorship is encouraged via at least one of the following:
