Bruno Mattos Rubeiz is a New York-based screenwriter and director. Born and raised in the tropical city of Salvador in Brazil, Bruno got his BFA in Film at Emerson College in Boston. His undergraduate thesis film “A New Friend”, a dramedy about two best friends that begin to drift apart after one of them changes into a vampire, got him into the MFA Film program at Columbia University. Bruno is currently in post on his thesis film “The Ballad of Fred Fort”, the story of a lonely man searching for a mythical animal that has ties to his family history, while also developing his first feature, “Old Boys’, a Queer, Gothic, and ghostly New England boarding school coming-of-age tale. Bruno’s work is focused on exploring what happens when the human meets the fantastic, and the blurred boundaries between the possible and the impossible.
