The International Brightlight Film Festival was created in response to a reality many independent filmmakers know all too well: too many film festivals today prioritize personal connections, internal politics, and closed circles over true artistic merit. As a result, powerful and honest films are often overlooked simply because their creators do not have the “right” relationships.

Brightlight exists to change that.
Every submission is evaluated fairly and transparently, based solely on artistic quality, storytelling strength, originality, and technical excellence — not industry access or favoritism.

Since its inception in 2022, Brightlight has rapidly risen to become one of the most important independent film festivals in the world. In just four years, it has attracted thousands of submissions from more than 120 countries, providing a global stage for bold voices and powerful stories.

Rules & Terms

By submitting to American Brightlight Film Festival, the submitter confirms ownership of all copyrights and intellectual property rights to the submitted work and agrees to hold the festival harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, or legal fees related to the film or its exhibition.

All non-English language films must be submitted with English subtitles.

All genres are accepted except pornography and films containing excessive violence.

    We were a finalist. The event was at their LCD screen studio. No one was there to ask who we were. No one organized the photos. The presenter was an AI female on the LCD screen. We were not ever mentioned. Awards were not verbally announced - just the names displayed. Then it was over. What would you rate that?
